Share a form that files each answer as a row in your template, and connect Google once so rows arrive on their own.

Intake gives a template a ready-made form. You share a link; customers or colleagues fill it in without an account; each answer becomes a new row in the tab the form belongs to, in that tab's column order. A tracker's forms run on that tracker's own subscription. For other templates whose page shows an Intake form section, forms are included while you subscribe to any tracker.

Every entry is kept in your Intake inbox under your account. From there you can export all entries as a CSV file, or copy the rows and paste them under the headings in Excel or Google Sheets.

To have rows written into Google Sheets automatically, connect Google once and choose your copy of the template for each link. After that no one signs in again: entries are written as they arrive. We ask Google only for access to the files you pick, so the rest of your Drive stays out of reach.

If Google is unavailable, or the tab has been renamed, the entry is not lost. It waits in the inbox, the link shows what went wrong, and it is sent with the next entry or when you choose Send to sheet.

The questions on a form are fixed for each template so they always match its columns. You can change the form's heading, pause a link to stop new entries, and delete a link when you no longer need it. To limit a form to your own staff, open Access codes in your account, give each person a name and a 6-digit code, and switch on Require an access code for the form. The form then opens only with a code, and the inbox shows who sent each entry. Removing a person stops their code at once. An account can have 10 people. Excel files saved on a computer cannot be written to from the web, so for Excel use export or copy rows.

Steps

  1. 1Open Intake in your account and create a link for a template.
  2. 2Select Connect Google and approve access, then select Choose a spreadsheet on the link and pick your copy of the template.
  3. 3Copy the link and share it by message, email or on your website.
  4. 4Watch entries arrive in the spreadsheet and in the inbox. Use Export CSV or Copy rows for Excel.
